Where to Stay Near Cumberland Falls
Cumberland Falls draws people in for the same two things: the 68-foot waterfall itself, and the moonbow that appears on clear nights near the full moon. If you’re trying to figure out where to stay for a falls trip, we run two properties nearby—Laurel Lake Cabins and Corbin Cottage—and each fits a slightly different kind of visit.
Laurel Lake Cabins — 20 Minutes from the Falls
Our four cabins (Dragonfly Retreat, Butterfly Nook, Moose Lodge, and Bear Den) sit on a shared property about 20 minutes from Cumberland Falls State Resort Park. It’s the better base if you want to split your trip between the falls and a real lake day—Laurel River Lake and two marinas are just 5 minutes away, and there’s an on-site catch-and-release pond if you’d rather fish without leaving the property. Groups can also book multiple cabins together, which the cottage can’t accommodate since it sleeps 2.
Corbin Cottage — 20 Minutes from the Falls, Right on the Highway
Corbin Cottage sits directly on Cumberland Falls Hwy, also about 20 minutes from the falls. It’s a one-bedroom rental that sleeps 2, so it’s a better fit for a couple or solo trip than a group. It’s also closer to downtown Corbin and Corbin Arena, with a fenced-in yard if you’re traveling with a dog.
Moonbow Nights from Either Property
Both properties put you about 20 minutes from the Falls Overlook, so neither has a real edge for a moonbow trip—plan on leaving 2 hours after sunset either way. We put together a full Moonbow Guide with 2026 viewing dates, what to bring, and where to stand.
Boat and Trailer Parking
If you’re bringing a boat to launch at Laurel River Lake before or after your falls trip, both Laurel Lake Cabins and Corbin Cottage have room to park a boat or trailer on-site.
Restaurants Nearby
Both properties are a short drive from downtown Corbin’s restaurant scene—The Wrigley Taproom & Eatery, Brooklyn Brothers Pizzeria, and Smokey Bear’s BBQ are local favorites—plus the Riverview Restaurant right near the falls for a convenient dinner stop after a day of hiking or moonbow-watching. See our full Attractions page for the complete list with addresses.
Which One Fits You?
If you’re traveling as a group, want an on-site pond, or plan to spend real time on Laurel River Lake, book one or more of our cabins. If it’s just you and a partner (or you and a dog who needs a fenced yard), Corbin Cottage is the simpler, more central option. Either way, you’re about 20 minutes from the falls and the moonbow.
