The Story of Corbin Cottage

Corbin Cottage sits on a piece of property that has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up here, and this little corner of Kentucky will always feel like home.

Years ago, the main house on the property was lost to a fire. While that chapter was difficult, one small building remained. What was once used as a business space stood quietly waiting for its next purpose.

My parents and I saw an opportunity to give it new life.

Together, we completely renovated the building from top to bottom, transforming it into the cozy one-bedroom cottage you see today. From demolition and repairs to decorating and finishing touches, it was truly a family project. Every step of the process was guided by a simple goal: create a comfortable place where guests could relax and enjoy the area we love so much.

Whenever possible, we incorporated repurposed and thrifted items into the design. We enjoy finding quality pieces with character and giving them a second life rather than always buying new. Not only is it better for the environment, but it also helps create a space that feels unique and personal.

Corbin Cottage is located just minutes from Laurel Lake, Cumberland Falls, hiking trails, and local attractions, making it a convenient home base for exploring southeastern Kentucky. But for me, what makes it special is something much simpler—it’s a place filled with family memories, hard work, and a lot of heart.

Whether you’re visiting to spend time on the lake, chase the famous Moonbow at Cumberland Falls, attend an event at Corbin Arena, or simply enjoy a quiet getaway, I hope you’ll feel as welcome here as we felt creating it.
